  6. 1. Status
  7. ---------
  8. HP-Pinguin is FREEWARE. That means, that you can copy it to
  9. anyone and use it as often as you want without paying for
  10. it (but you can give something to a charity organisation).
  11. Changes to the texts, resource files or the program itself
  12. are FORBIDDEN!
  13. Distribution by PD libraries and BBSs is allowed. Penguin
  14. may not be included on cover disks or CD collections without
  15. my written permission.

  17. 2. Improvements
  18. ---------------
  19. Version 1.3  - 1.451: HP-Penguin runs also as an Accessory and
  20. even under MultiTOS. This has been achieved by using the
  21. GFA-Flydial-Library 4.9 by Gregor Duchalski.
  22. Version 1.45 - 1.451: Complete translation of the comments!
  23.                       The headings can now be set seperately
  24.                       few bugs fixed in the German RSC-file
  25.                1.452: Bug fixes! English RSC should now work.
  26.                       Image name converted to lower case letters.

  29. 3. System requirements: 
  30. -----------------------
  31. Computer  : Atari ST/TT/Falcon, TOS 1.4 - 4.4, MultiTOS, MagiC
  32. Resolution: 640 * 200 or higher
  33. Memory    : HP-Penguin will take about 100KB of memory.
  34. Application type: ACC or PRG. Pure GEM.

  36. With the HP-Penguin you can create your own HTML-page without
  37. knowing any HTML-commands. You create it by answering a few
  38. questions. You can choose a background, make a two-column-text,
  39. insert a picture and many more. 
  40. Please note that HP-Penguin has NOT an integrated editor.
  41. You have to use an editor to write the text for your web page
  42. (it must not contain html commands). The reason why HP-Penguin
  43. has not an own editor is, that it would increase the program
  44. length dramatically. And there are already some great editors
  45. around. By the way, the Penguin will recognize the paragraphs
  46. correctly (okay, it's just a very stupid little routine that
  47. sets a paragraph if the length of the line is lower than a
  48. user definged length).

  50. The program explains itself so it would be the best if you
  51. start it right now!

  53. This program has been written with GFA-Basic 3.5E on an
  54. Atari Falcon. It is inspirated by a similar program for
  55. Windows (Home Page Wizard).

  57. 4. The language
  58. ---------------
  59. As said before, HP-Penguin is bi-lingual German/English.
  60. There is also a French RSC file but it is an absolutely 
  61. awful translation done by me. If anybody wants to do a
  62. translation to another language please contact me.

  64.  4.1 Falcon owners
  65.      You are lucky when you have a Falcon because HP-Penguin
  66.      will look at the _AKP-cookie and will load the correct
  67.      RSC-file. If the desktop language is set to other values
  68.      than German or English, HP-Penguin will automatically
  69.      choose the English resource file.
  70.  4.2 ST/TT owners
  71.      If you are owner of an Atari ST/TT you have to choose
  72.      the language differently. There are two methods:
  73.      I) Rename one of the two resource files will cause
  74.         HP-Penguin to load the other.
  75.         Example: Rename HPPING.RSC to HPPING.RSX
  76.                  HP-Penguin will load HPPING_E.RSC.
  77.         This will also work on a Falcon.
  78.      II) Start the program without renaming one of the RSC-
  79.          files.
  80.          A box will appear with the question which language
  81.          you want to have.
  82.  4.3 Emulator users and ST compatibles
  83.      As I have no experience with Atari emulators or the new
  84.      clone machines, I can not say if you need to rename
  85.      the files or not.

  87. 5. Known bugs/limitations
  88. -------------------------
  89. 1. Please close the HP-Penguin window if you are using the
  90.    Penguin as an ACC under Single-TOS and are starting a
  91.    program!
  92. 2. There are problems with the Redraw of the Atari fileselector.
  93.    Use an alternative fileselector to fix that problem.

  95. 6. Future enhancements
  96. ----------------------
  97. * You can see one in the start dialogue: Load HTML file.
  98. * Perhaps I will use FaceValue for the next versions of HP-Penguin.

  117. If you want to publish your web site on the net, you should look
  118. also at another Internet tool which has different options like
  119. special char conversion (important for French and German Atari
  120. users), delete tags (will remove all HTML commands so that you
  121. get a normal text) and some other things...
  122. The name of the program is HTML-Help and is, for example,
  123. available on ftp.funet.fi . You can also find new versions
  124. of HP-Penguin and future projects there.
